The walk an artist takes from the backstage trailer to the EDM festival stage can be fraught with emotion: Anxiety, elation, self-doubt, pride. For young bucks just starting to simmer, it can be a literal passage into a whole new phase of their career.
That journey is captured in evocative slow motion in the new clip from Daddy’s Groove for its soaring vocal “Surrender.” The Italian DJ/producer trio (Gianni Romano, Carlo Grieco, and Peppe Folliero, who sits out the DJ duties) is known for Main Stage-sized EDM, both lyrical and wordless (like this year’s “Vertigo” on Jack Back), and boasts a very powerful mentor: Jack Back label boss David Guetta. The video culminates with goosebump-inducing, fire-shooting footage of the boys in the Main Stage volcano at Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival, alongside Guetta himself.
